I have a 1500 4 by 4 and the speeddometer wont show any speed until i hit 38 mph then it shows speed,Now the cheak engin light is on and i bought a ODB11POCKET SCAN and the coade is PO500 (Veh Speed Sensor A Malfunction) so i replaced it and still it comes on after a while and the speedodmenter still wont kick in untill 38mph. Any help with this would be great.(I am sick of looking at the cheak engine :banghead: light)

what year is your truck?
mine is a 99, and there are two speed sensors, one in the trans, and one on the rear dif.
the one on the rear dif is the one that is used for low speeds, when mine wend bad, I lost spedo below like 25 or 30MPH. mine did not trip the check engine light, but it did cause the "abs" and "break" lights to come on.
hope this helps ya out some,
Keith

That is right p-500 is for sensor on rear diff.
But when you pull out sensor check if you have metal
particle on. If so most likely gear is going south.Rear diff
need services every 15k.Check if you need pozi-aditive.

yep, it's on top of the rear "pig". on mine, there is a break line clamp that is on the same stud, and needs to be removed first. it can be difficult to pull out, the o-ring seals it prety tight, it may help to twist it a little wile pulling. also, be carefull not to damage the o-ring when putting it back in.
