can someone explain to me how you read a dsm turbo?
i just bought a turbo off a 98 gsx for my civic and wanted to know what size it is, what is the smallest to biggest dsm turbo? i know it goes somethin like t25, t28, g16, g18?, b14, b16?, b18?

The "t" in t25&t28 is trim, am i right? well how do you read how big the g and b is? and how big is the flanges on these turbos? are any of them t3's?

b16, b18 are like honda engines or something, but you should know that. I hear those words randomly coming out of my friends mouths once in awhile. It's 14b, 16g, 18g, 20g.

And if that turbo you bought is stock, its a T-25, Otherwise known as the T-2small

1g auto 13b
1g 5 speed 14b
2g auto or 5 speed t25

t25 is the smallest and thats what you have. should be perfect for your 1.5 liters lol

the sizes go from smallest to biggest
t25
t28
13b
14b
small 16g
big 16g
evo 16g
18g
20g

the turbo off a 2g is the T-25 (small turbo). The turbo off a 1g is bigger than the 2g turbo. the "t" in t-25, i'm pretty sure doesnt stand for trim. Same turbos for the 2g DSM, all turbos are the same in the 2g dsms. When u were rattling about the B Series motor, those were all hond engines.

A 13g is smaller then the T28, and the t28 is similar, but bigger then the 14b

Actually... if you want to get technical, a 13g is smaller than a T25 and a T28 is bigger than a Small 16g. So this is from smallest to largest bolt on turbos:

13g
T25
14b
15g
Small 16g
T28
Big 16g
Big T28
Evo III 16g
18g
20g
Various 50trim or greater turbos

 Sorry I had to be an ass! :icon16:

Personally, I would think that a t25 would be perfect for a honda, wouldnt it be? It spools quick and hondas dont run that much boost anyways, so I really dont know why some people run big turbos on hondas can some one explain.

awesome thanks guys! ya the t25 should be perfect for my 1.5L 70whp civ hb lol.

What does the t28 come off?

your right hondas(d-series motors) cant handle that much boost. the most hp you'll see w/dsm turbos on stock d-series is 180 for non vtec and 230 w/vtec.

But when your talkin engine swaps from an integra, thats a different story, even w/ a bone stock gsr motor we dont even mess w/ the dsm turbos lol. w/ a stock gsr, people useally get a t4 t50 .68ar wich is alot bigger than a 20g

Which is retarded because they then run open wastegate, which is like 6 psi, so that they won't blow their motor

So basically they just wasted $2k+ on a turbo kit they could have pieced together to make that same 275+ hp on a 14b or 16g DSM turbo, and some custom intercooler piping.

I just love how people continually ask "how much boost can I run on a stock b18c block" or "how many psi can I run on my 4g63 without building the internals." The answer is ALWAYS dependent on what turbo you're running on the car.
your right the question should be how much hp can my stock motor handle
And your wrong, try 12psi w/330whp on a stock block. and will a 16g make hp at 8500rpm's?? the t4 t50 is a bit laggy but will kick ass at the strip and can make hp up to 10,000 rpm's

All mitsu turbos use a mitsu flange, turbos that use a T3 or T4 flange are garrett. the 2g T25 is not a straight garrett. it has a MHI exhaust housing. Likewise, if you buy a T28 for a DSM, you buy it from a DSM vendor. I'm sure they make full garrett T28s that don't bolt to anything.

The T28 doesn't come on anything that I know of, it's an upgrade. As for what 'T' stands for, I believe it to just be a line of garrett turbos, T25, T66, T88h... a short name for a lot of variations in trim and a/r.

Here's a list of turbos nobody ever uses. If I were an ass i'd throw together a list including 17T and 28G.

fucking hondas and their 10k + rpms. and to answer your question it probably would make power up to at least 8500. due to the fact that your engine is a 1.8 and we are running a 2.0 my 16g will pull my car up to redline no prob dont see why it wouldnt pull a shitty honda motor up that high.
