'97 GTP with Thrasher 3.4 SC pulley, Thrasher CAI, Cold Air Tuneable Granatelli MAF, AC/NGK Iridium plugs, MSD 8.5mm wires, u-bend delete, hi-flow CAT, ASE ECM Chip, 180 thermostat.

0-60 = 5.9 sec
1/4 mile = 14.3 @ 96 mph
4000 ft altitude, 79 degrees, 26% rel humidity

Gonna try some VP Racing fuel next time around when the strip opens.

Thats the best we've done so far to date. Having traction problems at launch on the Goodyear Eagle GTs, plus I'm at 4,000 feet altitude in West Texas. 91 octane premium gas with no octane booster. The GTP turned mid fifteens when it was box stock with under 40K miles. Got about 90K now. Mods definitely helped. Surprised a lot of kids running Mustang GTs, especially with an old man at the wheels.

A friend in Los Angeles with a '98 GTP with similar mods at sea level does 0 - 60 in 5.5 sec and turns a 13.9 quarter mile @ 102 mph.

Any suggestions?

I run my car at a high altitude also. and i had crappy tires lol. I use 93 octane with no booster..is it humid when you run your car?

Found the Dragstrip ET timeslip from last year and the 60 foot ET is 2.210. We have no humidity per se in the desert. It was 26% humidity on the day of the run.

What mods are you running without the 3.4 SC pulley? brand/type ECM chip, etc.?

the only mods i had was a DHP 1.0, 2.5in RT downpipe, dynomax cat-back, a FWI and thats about it

If you can run low 14s with those mods then you're the exception not the norm. The DHP chip is only good for about 20 hp, 14 after your supercharger temperatures start to rise. Check out Digital Horsepower's Dyno charts. I'm running the stock exhaust with a CATCO hi-flow CAT and ASE ECM chip which has better specs that the DHP, in my opinion. The 3.4 pulley is probably the most significant bolt-on mod than can be done for horsepower and improving ETs but not without running into supercharger overheating problems due to lack of intercooler, etc. 1 grand is a lot to shell out.

My mods and ETs are consistent with others in my area, so I'm satisfied.
High altitude in New York? Bring your GTP down to our area and see how well it performs. Most GTPs with the DHP chip only run high 14s in our area if they are lucky. My problem is getting the extra horsepower to the ground and hopefully break the 14 sec. barrier. We'll see as soon as our dragstrip opens. I'll keep you all posted.

KustomKid 54,

Like to take you up on that offer to come down to Florida and see how our GTP does at sea level. But got a son at USMA West Point in New York and would rather check out the high altitude in New York state.
Maybe they have some strips sitting on top of Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks. If the guy in the other thread can turn low 14s with modest mods what have I got to lose. Gee, I just double checked by ET timeslip, do you think my reaction time of .54 seconds is hurting my ET times? Man......I'm getting old....lol.

My first run Friday, my friend asked me "what the hell you doing, reading a damn newspaper? " I told him "no, my back was hurting. So I was turning on the seat warmer". He didn't find that funny.
Good luck

Well i guess the track I race on isn't at that high of an elevation, I'll let you know how high as soon as i find out myself if it helps its Lebanon Valley Dragway on West Lebanon NY..everyone says they get slower times there.

I figured my car was a little faster than the norm GP but not by that much..I'll let you guys know what i run with my pulley and possably PEM's when the track opens on April 3rd..i'll prolly go the week after that.

2KBlkGTP,

You should be proud of your GTP's track times. You're doing great! I think I need to improve my reaction time (.54 sec)...lol. Keep me posted I'd be interested in your new ET. I just turned 50 last year but luv to keep the adrenaline flowing. Still race motocross with a modded out Honda CR250 in the 250cc vet. class too.
