I have a 95 RS w/o ABS(anit-lock brakes). Is it possible to install the ABS system into my car. If yes, how much am i looking at? Also, how often do synchros go bad. I have about 57k miles on my car and my first gear is giving me problems. I have a hard time putting it into first gear from neutral. When i want to put it into first, it gets stuck half way and i half to put it back into neutral, repush the clutch and attempt to put it into first again. Is that because of a bad synchro or something else?

im not sure about the abs but with 57K on your car your synchros should be good unless who ever had it before you diddnt know how to drive, is it only first gear? because i know that on a few of my friends tegs the clutch was the first thing to go

ya its pretty much the first gear. thing is, is that it doesnt do it every time. it happens maybe every 4 out 7 times i try to put into 1st and on somedays, it works perfectly fine...

yeah my car does the same thing but in 1st or reverse. My car has 117k on it but the clutch was changed at 90k. Its not too annoying yet but if iget real bad then I'll look into it

There is a quick test you could do to see if your clutch or tranny is going. With vehicle OFF and ebrake on. try to put your car in gear. run through all the gears. if there are no problems putting it into gear your clutch is bad, but if there is a problem putting it into gear then your tranny may be bad or need service. Hope this helps, not too sure how to test synchros.

so you're telling me if it glides into gear easily then my clutch is bad, and if it doesnt go in easily, then my tranny is bad? so wat is it suppose to be like when the tranny and clutch is good?? it doesnt make sense...

he meant if it gives you problems while running, but shifts smoothly with the engine off then the clutch has problems.

When my clutch and T/O bearing went I had to shut the car off to put it in 1st or reverse, then power shift into 2,3,4. it was a pain because I had to put it in reverse to get out of my driveway, shut the car off in the street, put into first then restart the car and start going. However it eventually got so bad the T/O bearing wasn't working at all and even with the clutch depressed the starter was moving my car.
