fix steering column linkage?

Have a 1997 Ford 150 lx. The linkage is mess up by one letter. D is neutral, L is drive, ect. How much of a problem is it to fix and how?

should be able to adjust it on the linkage at the tranny. should'nt be too hard. put it in drive and have someone sit in the truck and watch the needle as you losen or tighen the nut until its in the right spot

There is a small adjusting (plastic) nut under the dash that controls the cable. These are bad about breaking part of it off. To get this part you have to get the entire PRNDL assembly. If you can find a junked one, you may be able to get the part by itself.
