99 GT front fender

Hey all,

I don't know much about cars, but today I noticed by front fender (I think that is what it's called) had a couple big cracks in it with chips in the paint and scratches. Here are some pics:

This makes me so sad, because I love my car! It's the first one I've paid for myself.

Does anyone know how this can be fixed and how much it would cost?

I've got some cracks in my fascia from various things - A shop could probably fix it for less then 200 $, but if you want to do it yourself, it'd be fairly easy. Buy some red touch-up paint that matches your color, buy some 2 part epoxy at Autozone, apply the expoxy onto cleaned fascia cracks, let harden, sand, and then paint, and it should look fairly decent.

Hey Ride, Do you think that will hold up? That area tends to take some abuse, if you use a 2 part epoxy that hardens, the two different materials are not going to work together, the flexible plastic and the hard epoxy. I think that the repaired area is just going to crack off especially if it takes another hit in that area. Obviously that area has been hit and will mostlikely be hit again. Even if the weather gets cold the repair might not hold up. I don't know this for sure and I could very well be wrong, I've never tried to repair a bumper. My only experience with a cracked bumper was so bad that it needed replaced. I hope thet the method you described works, if ningirl decided to try it she will have to make absolutely sure she has clean surfaces for the epoxy to bond to, before you use the epoxy sand the surfaces that the epoxy will be attaching to, it will help the epoxy stick better,

Another thing to look at, If I'm not mistaken someone is now producing an aftermarket repair kit for the plastic body panels. I have to head to a parts store today, if I get a chance I'll look into it. If I find out anything I'll post a reply on this thread.

I just had my entire bumper replaced due to a crash. It was cracked something like the picture shown above. I'm in Canada and the bumper itself cost $624.00 and then paint and labour on top of that. It wasn't a cheap job. I'd try to fix it myself before taking it to a shop.

When i got mine replaced due to an accident about 2 yrs ago, it was about $200 for the bumper and $150 for paint this is also in the US, plus that was dealer prices which at times tend to be higher... I also wonder how well a patch will hold up...

Just noticed today that my front bumper has a dent in it... hopefully mine doesn't crack.... no more hitting snow mounds for me!
