I have a check engine light, so I borrowed and tried two seperate OBD-II testers from the local parts store and neither would not receive any signal from the diagnostic port. I was told there might be a short in the port, does anyone know any way to diagnose the diagnostic port?

you could always unscrew the data port and check the wires from the back or even use a jumper wire to run to the scanner and get it to read. Also welcome to AF.

If that doesn't work, try using some "precision electronics cleaner" (3M) on the port - that open port is easy for dust and dirt to get into and mess up the connectors.
