Turbos

First can a V6 GT Eclipse beat the 2005 Evolution MR? Just drove the 2005 Evolution and my GOD the fastest prodution car I ever drove beside the saleen mustang. However, I'm getting a turbo or thinking about getting on put on my Eclipse and want to know if any of you think it will beat that car? If not will probably trade mine in next year for a Evolution. What do you guys think?? And what the hell, why is it so hard to get one of those turbos for this car? YOu would think, V6 = turbo = very fast car!! Starting to think that a turbo might kill the engine, and that's why no one is making them for it. I'm new to this car stuff, so don't laugh at my questions. Just asking for some insight that's all.

V engines are traditionally harder/more expensive to turbo, just for packaging reasons. You have to get the exhaust gasses from both banks over to one side to drive the turbo, or run two, etc. And so forth. Its a pain in the ass IMO.

The question of will it beat it depends on a few things. The EVO is somewhat underrated at 276 hp, so if your car weighed the same, you would need that much HP. If its a race from a stop, you would also need AWD traction to stand a chance. I personally would wait until next year and trade in if that is a viable option. Start off with the right car to build from. If this was a 4g63 car you could easily match the power of the EVO, but in your case its a lot more hassle. Do it once, do it right.
