93 headlight switch

I have a 93 dodge 150 I am on my 2nd head light switch
it seems they are getting very hot and burning up I replaced
this one today myself and found the green wire going to the
switch has gotten very hot when I insyalled the switch and cut the lights on the green wire got hot right away and after a minunte was
so hot you cant hold it for long the lights are working now any
idea's

Dodge headlight switches sometimes get warm,but it shouldn't be getting that hot.It sounds like it is getting to much power,just a shot in the dark here but it might be that your voltage regualtor is bad.

Thanks but you know the truck is not even running
and when I turn the switch on the green wire get
to hot to handle within a minunte the switch its self
is not that hot except the one prong no fuse blows
or anything like that.I dont think the voltage reg would
come into play with the engine off but I did check
its putting out about 14.3 volt
