Your First Car
Gotti

What was your first car? The first one you drove and the first one that you owned. Just wondering cause i see all these kids on here talk about how their daddy bought them a new car or even a BMW at 16. And it got me thinking about all the shit I had to go through when i first got my liscence. I wish I grew up rich, or even middle-upper.. I would of been so happy if we had even a new Civic i could of driven.
I have the right to be cocky with a new car, cause i went through some SHITTY ass rides when i was 16-20.
The first car I drove was my dads pimpin 4-speed 1989 Ford Festiva with rusty 10 inch wheels... looked like a fucking go cart. When i drove it, i would never pull up right beside other cars at stop lights, incase it was somebody I knew or a hot girl. I'd always stop a little back LOL If i went to a mall or any store, i would NEVER park near the front, I'd look for a spot inbetween 2 vans or somewhere closer to the back. My friends would always get pissed that they'd have to walk through the whole parking lot, but i didnt give a shit, that car was embarrasing. If i ever drove by a bustop with people standing in a neighborhood i know, i'd go to the lane farther away from the stop and duck down lol
The first car i owned was when i was 18, I got a 1985 Buick Skylark (this is in 2003, so almost 20 year old car) my aunt was gunna put it in the junk yard, but i took it off her hands. It had some rust spots commin out, but it was a nice comfortable boat to cruise in compared to the stupid little clown car i had to cruise in before. It had the old school spoked hub caps (that fell off a couple times, but they looked pretty pimp) and the buick symbol was missing in the front. It had a bunch a fake wood grain plastic on the dash and the seats were like pillows, so when you were inside you kinda forgot how ugly it was on the outside. But this is when i sort of got used to the fact that i'm ghetto, and i didnt care as much if people saw me in the car. I just thought of it as ghetto fabulous, the spoked rims, pretty good speakers (compared to the Festiva), power windows, power locks (they didnt work tho). I was moving up. But it was still a piece of shit.
So now after i hustled my ass off for some cash, I got a 1996 Acura Integra with leather seats. And i think i'm the biggest pimp in the world when i'm in that car. Its crazy... I honestly feel like i'm driving a fuckin Ferrari or some shit i get so cocky when i cruise in that thing. I love it... I think i have the right to be cocky after what i went through

My first car that I drove regularly was Mum's 1994 Mazda 626 5 spd V6. Lovely car (till I totalled it).
My first car I owned was an off-it's-tits 1987 Corolla Twin Cam, which was also a beast (till I totalled it).
Gotti - your ego is wayyy too tied up in the car you are driving. It's truly sad that you're so insecure you think the car you're driving will change someones opinion of you. Pathetic.
Freakray - I've driven those Pulsar's!! Feel the 1.5L of carby wrath :lol2:
NICE Navara!! I'd love one of the dual cab TD 4x4 of them. Nice vehicle.

first car i drove was like 88 new yorker. Second car i started to learn in was a 1999 cougar. The car I learned to drive in was a 1999 grand marquis (V8 baby)
My first car was a shitty ass 94 grand am. thats all the money i could save before i had to go back to my second semy in college. It broke down so my second car was a 98 stratus. I used my tax money and the money i was savin for for keepsake to get it. My eclipse was just play toy. I don't know what it feels like to have car brought for me. If i had a good car brought for me I would be riced out right now.

First car I ever drove was a 1996 Honda Civic VTi 5 speed which belonged to my mum.
Learnt to drive in an AA Nissan Pulsar for the most part (A 1999 model, not all that bad)
Then I got my first car a 1991 Volkswagen Jetta, one of the last ones ever sold in NZ, was a 1.8 Carbie and a manual, absolute tons of fun and probably the most robust engine in the world (230,000 km's and the engine was like new). Such a shame I totalled it, that's when I learnt as well as being the most reliable cars from the time, Mk II Golf/Jetta's are also probably the safest.
Only other car I had was a 1994 Civic LX manual. (1.5 Carbie) Thrashed it for 9000 Km's and never gave me any worries, wasn't as fast as the Jetta though. I sold it for the price I paid for it as well. Magic.
I'm hoping my next will at least have fuel injection........

I 'learned' to drive on a 1949 Ferguson TEA 20. This was a nice farm tractor. There are still lots around today. I was only 7 years old (1973) but since it went only 15 mph in top gear, my folks thought I would be safe.
The first car I drove regularly was a '77 Jeep Wagoneer. It had the super-rare 401 cid V8. A terrific vehicle but it succumbed to rust in only 6 years.

Cars I learned on and inherited:
1988 dodge 600 SE
1989 Ford bronco 2
Then after they both died within 6 months of me driving them I inherited:

After I blew a fist sized hole in the engine block I bought myself a:
1996 plymouth neon (biggest pile of crap i've ever driven)
Then after a short stint back in the Taurus I bought my 93 gs-r and she's been taking my abuse for about 3 years now with no complaints.

My first car that I drove regularly was Mum's 1994 Mazda 626 5 spd V6. Lovely car (till I totalled it).
Gotti - your ego is wayyy too tied up in the car you are driving. It's truly sad that you're so insecure you think the car you're driving will change someones opinion of you. Pathetic.
Thats easy to say when the first car you drove was a Mazda 626... which is pretty luxury.
Its not that i throught it would change someones opinion of me, cause i still cruised in it with friends. But I'm always rockin fresh gear, clean sneakers, crisp new clothes, i only wear white Ts once and through them out, so when i'm 16 thats my image you know. So obviously that doesnt go with a shitty ass clown car with little rusty wheels. That was jus for the first car tho, the 2nd car was real shitty too but i didnt care anymore.
Just to give you an idea of what i was cruisin in
http://www.veva.bc.ca/rev/1999/images/festiva.jpg
This is a Ford Festiva... except this ones brand new, and its like the Sports Edition or somethin. This ones actually pretty nice, i wouldnt mind cruisin in that too much. It even has hub caps! Now you can imagine what i was cruisin in, imagine that car with the body in not so good shape, dents, rust coming out around the wheel wells, rust coming out all over the body in other places and hub caps?! when i had it, hub caps were like a luxury dream, imagine that whole area where the hub cap are in the picture brownish orange cause that whole area on all of the wheels on my car was rust. I'm not even kidding.... and note the size of the guy in the car, the car is the size of one of those SMART cars
And add to the fact that i'm driving this in America, not in Europe where they're used to cars like this. I dunno how it is in Australia, prolly closer to Europe cause you guys have Fiats and shit. So little cars are popular, if i was in Europe that would be like an average ride. But not in America, in America people are used to big cars, so seeing a car smaller than a honda civic hatchback is like Comedy Central around here. Prolly different than in Australia
Its funny when people who drove really nice cars are telling me i'm "insecure" and "pathetic" LMAO You had time to cruise in a nice ride so you have no idea

It started with a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle - it was given to me, I still have (most of) it.

It is funny that anybody in a large car would ever tell somebody in a smaller car that they're "insecure" - however that they'd tell you you're pathetic only shows how insecure they must be.
The festiva is really small, smaller than my Renault Le Car was, but about the same size as the Yugo.

First car was a Ferarri Enzo, then i totaled it. So then daddy bought me a murcielago, but I didn't like it, so he sold it and i got me dream car a Corvette!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!one!!
Now that I'm knee deep in BS(not even believable bs) I'll be honest. I'm driving my first car, a 1994 Buick Park Avenue. Most people in my town don't care what anyone else drives, but those that do either love or hate it. It's not exceptionally powerful, or have a great factory stereo, or handle like it's on rails, but it's a comfy cruiser that takes me back and forth to school.
And I wouldn't have it any other way :)
Heres a picture of her after a bath.

1st car I ever drove was a 1985 Ford Escort GL, with a super tiny 1.2L engine I think.
1st car I owned, was a 1992 Chevy Cavalier VL.
and ironically, I am looking for a 92-94 Z, so I can swap a 3400 from an Alero.

I learned to drive in my parents Datsun 510.
My first car was a 69 Camaro. It took a couple of years of parttime jobs to save enough to buy it.

You totalled an M3 as well? :p
Errrmm.......... well as for the topic, the first car I ever drove was my mothers Austin Montego (Almost new back then). For those who don't know what they look like I envy you, just picture a Rover 800 Sterling that got stoned and you're about 2/3's of the way there.
Then the first ever car I owned was a 1989 Mazda 323 1.3 litre hatch when I was 17. Not that I owned it, because i never paid for it. I basically stacked that around a tree, my dad collected the insurance money and I was left to my own devices.
Bring on the Yugo 45 Handihatch!!!! that car was a hell of a laugh, it was in crap condition when I bought it and damn near falling apart when I got rid of it. I kept it for about 7 years, it basically sat alongside my other cars, it was basically my fun car.
I got a Renault 19 after that, near-new, my first truly good car.
Beyond that I've had about 20-25 cars over a period of about 15 years, some good, some crap.
