tbird seatbelt motor

my little brother has a bit of a problem with his 93 tbird. it seems the police in the area don't like that his seat belt are stuck in the "forward" position. when i turn the ignition on, the passenger side belt seems to jiggle for a few seconds, the motor whirs, but it doesn't move. the driver side just seems to be dead. i have checked the fuse block in the engine compartment and all seems to be fine (tight, not blown, etc). i am unable to locate a passenger compartment fuse box (not for want of not looking for it-or if it would do any good if i found it). any help would be greatly appreciated....even if the mechanism would lock in the "back" position - could live with that. helppppppppppppppppppp

Just below and forward of the backseat armrests are little access panels near the b-pillar. Remove the panel and you should be able to disconnect the wiring to the seat belt motors, unless you have Goliath hands, and you should be able to see a plastic knob that if turned will move your seatbelt tracks. Rotate this knob so the tracks are all the way to the rear. By having the motors disconnected from power, the latch will stay to the rear until you deem it necessary to rip everything apart and find out for sure why they don't work. Odds are the motors...

thanks soooooooo much, flewthecoupe...found the compartment with no problem...reeled the mechanism back..and, lo and behold, seemed that the damned thing was just bound up...i lubed the track and tested it about 50 times...works like a charm....you guys are grrrrrreat...thanks again, flewthecoupe!

The true problem lies in the latch area of the door...there is an electric switch connected to it(the latch).and it is either bad,or not making the connection it needs to actuate the seat belt motor to engage it...that's the right way :)
