Over on Teamswift there are some discussions on replacing the stock unit with aftermarket projector lights from mostly a Toyota Corolla.

Anyone have any info on doing the same to '89-'94 Metros? :icon16:

It's not quite bolt-in, but they work with a little fabrication. You'll need a swift hood tho. The metro's have smaller headlights. Also, you'll need a swift GT upper bumper cover with the grille.

Too much expense for all that. :uhoh:

I see what is called 'composite' lights for the Metro. They appear to follow the lines of the hood to signal light instead of being recessed.

Ant thoughts on those?

I've been looking into those "composite" headlights for a while now too. I think the LSI models (the "fancy" versions) have those and so do some (or all?) convertibles. I've only had about a year of experience with Mets so far, so I'm not sure what years/types/models etc. have them. I heard that the stock "composite" units will fit in where we have the seal beam ones with the plastic trim (I think they replace the corner lights too, depending on which ones you look for). Try checking out some rides on www.cardomain.com, this is where I saw most of the headlight "conversions".

My guess would be to try a salvage yard for them, since they seem to be really expensive on eBay (about $100-$200 each!!). Also, it seems that most of the used ones are kinda foggy or scratched, so you can pick out your own if you're lucky enough to find some there.

Personally, I like the composite lights, although I painted my plastic trim on my 94 white (they were black), so it adds a bit of a personal touch to the car now.

Well, happened onto these Blue Diamond Headlights (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7965241932&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores) .

They will match the lights going into my body kit.

Someday I'll make a template and head to the salvage yard for projector headlights and use the stock housing. :)
