I recently bought a 1995 Pearl White Thunderbird. The car is beautiful, we got it all cleaned up and now are going to begin, "tweaking" and cleaning up the body (rust in several spots). It is a V8 automatic, rides wonderfully, fast...though on occasion I have noticed that, wether O/D is on or off, sometimes the transmission seems to "bog." Gets up and goes and then suddenly, it's as if it's "chugging" or "bogging?" I don't want to say that it's "slipping" cause that's not entirely what it feels like and it's not all the time. I can go days without it occuring. Will simply flushing out the fluid, or just adding trans conditioner help? Or are these simply just where to start? Is it likely something is wrong with the transmission?
On a lighter note, I also am curious as how to affordably add a little more horsepower to it? The car is really very quick, but...well...you know? ;o)
Thanks for any help you can offer...

If you don't know if the tranny fluid has been changed, I would recommend that first. Drain the torque converter, blow out the cooler lines and replace the filter at this time, also.

I would first put a bottle of Lucus tran condisioner(SP) .And see if that will help.I did help my 94 T-Bird but I know in time I will have to get the tranny rebuilt. But try the cheap way first.

If you flush the tranny, make sure you use Mercon V.

My dad told me if you change the filter and fluid in a "High-milage" Tranny thats never had a change before is more likely to go out.....Is this true??
