Quirky Gentry

I have recently bought a 205 gentry automatic. Does any one know anything about these cars. The gearbox doesn't appear to be original as the selecta operation bears no resemblance to the selecta indicator. Drive on the selecta indicator is pull the stick back when in reality pushing it forward makes it go. Any ideas as to what thats all about! Also there does not appear to be any reversing lights, is this right? as I dont know of any modern cars that don't have them. Any one got a hand book I can buy. Anyone lived with a genrty and would like to tell me about it.
