I have just put a rebuilt carburteted 305 in my 85 Z. It has an RV cam and an action plus weiand dual plane dome. Headers with open duals to 3inch flotech afterburners.Using a rebuilt qjet for the large secondaries, love em.
Next considerations before fireup are a torsional dampener and electric fuel pump,4-6 psi ,35 gph. But my buddy who tunes my cars says that the stock pumps are all you need. However i read in a chevy rebuyild manual that the stock pumps are not adequate for performance levels.
Anyone have any experience with the differences?

Your friend is right and so is the mag., but they are talking about real performance, not just a cam mod in an otherwise stock 305. The 305 isn't a "performance" engine and never really will be (not counting the bored 302 made into a 305)
