mk2 toyota supra

Well my friends mom is selling her MK2 celica/supra for $700 its a 1983 and its got some wear and tear on it, needs some engine work and feels like going over little speed bumps when shifting in to 2nd gear (its an AT), and some rust one the rear hatch. Is it wroth it? or should I just pass it by and look for something else?
