I have a problem that is occuring on my Aurora, the clear coat in certain places is peeling off. Is there anyway to fix it mysefl with out having to take it to a shop, they just state they would have to repaint the entire car from scratch. I feel they are just trying to take all my money. I am willing to do a little elbow work if neccessary. Would it be worth my time and effort to sand it down, the clear coat, and then spray some clear coat down myself in those areas and of course buff it to a good shine? What do you guys think, I can post pictures to show what I mean. I guess will actually just go get some and post them later so everyone can see what I am talking about.

I've had the same issue. I bought my 99, and the previous owner was re-ended. Whomever did the repair did a crapy job with the clearcoat. I took it to a paint specialist, and they recommened wet sanding and re-clearcoating it. Total cost to blend and everything was less than 300, but that was with a "friend knows a friend" discount.....

I know clearcoat problems are a pain, and from what I've heard, the best way to resolve it is to have a shop do it. You can wax it, and do everything you can to it, but it's going to need to be treated down the road. That's IMO....
