Camshaft Knowledge

So I have some H23 KMS Engines "racing camshafts" ready to go in my car. I go to put them in, and "BAM", they magically appear to be too f#@king short. The camshafts flat out don't fit, how stupid is that? So now I'm pissed and trying to get my money back, my question is, with my current mods (look at sig), would I be better off with Crower stage 1's or Crower stage 2's? Future plans incude probable engine management (Hondata or Uberdata) and possible (but not likely) port and polishing. Thanks for any help. I've got pretty much the same mods on my b16. I don't know about the Crower stage 2's, but based my experience with Skunk2 I would recommend the stage 1. Skunk2 stage 2's make lousy power below 5000 rpm - you gotta rev HIGH to make hp. Makes it kinda shitty to drive on the street cause you gotta rev up high (and loud) just to keep up with regular traffic. To make stage 2's work you gotta have more compression than stock.

Alright, thanks for the input. However, another question I had was if the low end loss was worth it for high end, because the H23 has plenty of low end, and is lacking in the high end. So would this even out the powerband a bit more? Thanks again.

For me the high end gain wasn't worth the low-end loss, but that's with my b16 vtec. Since an h23 isn't a vtec engine the powerband (and the way it would respond to a cam) is different, so I'm only guessing how the h23 would respond to a stage 2 cam. I used to own a 92 Prelude Si so I have some experience with the h23, except mine was stock.

i have a 4th gen ludeVTEC and even though u r without the VTEC I would definately recommend the stage one. you will get more power through your whole RPM's rather than from 5000-redline with the stage 2. My advice is to get a VTEC head and make a frankenstein motor. that way if the stage 1 goes from 1000-6500 u can get ur VTEC to kick in around 5200 and that will increase your overall band of power.
