99 Suburban question

I just bought a 99, and for the life of me cant figure out whether it has an 'E' light or not. We are trying to figure out our mileage, but I'd feel better knowing it did in fact have a light.

I have a 97 GMC Suburban and it doesn't have an "empty" light. My son's 98 K2500 doesnt either.

why do you need a empty light to figure milage? fill the dam tank, write down milage or set trip guage, full. drive till you have a 1/4 of a tank go fill tank again and subtract milage, dont understand why u have to run the tank dry to figure mileage. unless you want to know howw many miles you get to the tank and even then you can figure it out because you should know the size of your tank. if not read your owners manual, or are you one of those people that doesn't read your owners manual?

Geez, all I did was ask a question. Of course I have read the manual, I know the size of my tank. I know how to figure mileage. I have just gotten into the habit of filing up when the e light went on, since all my other Chevys have had e lights. I guess I will have to change that habit now.

Thanks for the reply Old Dave.

sorry if i offendid you just tired of this techno dependent sociaty. if you have an e light it will come on when you turn the truck to the on possition before you get to start or if not should come on when you are cranking engine before it starts,

Its actually best not to run your tank all the way low, fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, if tank is empty pump runs hotter and shortens life of pump.
