Starting Problems

I am still having problems.
I did the things that were suggested to me in this forum yesterday......Turned the key to the auxillary position......no noise from the fuel pump.
What should I do next, or, is that a solid indication that it is the fuel pump?
What is a fair estimate of having it replaced? Or, is it something I can do myself?
