does anyone have this exact one, and if so, how do you like it? i don't know much about CF hoods...i have heared they fade, but this ad claims this hood has a protective coat on it to prevent fading. any info would be great! thanks.

If youre running a turbo, you might want to read a previous thread on CF hoods just a while ago...sorry cant post the link, late for work! But the gist of the thread was this: this guy MELTED THREE CF hoods because they were non-ViS cheapo brands. He got his 4th one as a ViS one and has had no isses for a while now... just a thought.

Vince, how long have you had it for now? Any melting yet? Also, how does it look compared to one that costs $500 +?

I ran mine (free) for a long time, never had any trouble. And I make my manifold glow even if I'm just going to wendys for a number 6. That guy needs to stop being a douchebag and run the heat shields if he's having this much trouble... I'm considering making some stainless heat sheilds for the SFP tubular manifold to keep all that heat of the engine bay, CF hood or not.
Edit> 160 does seem awefully cheap... Just for the materials alone its got to be over a hundred bucks. And for the effort that goes into working with that donkey shit I would do the labor alone for 160. But hey, fuckit, run heat shields and drive it on. Its not about looks anyway if its a tiolet, its about weight savings...

i won the auction for 100 and shipping was 150. funny thing was that i even offered to pick it up and pay for 1/2 shipping because the place was like 5 minutes from me and they would not budge. we all know that they make all the $$ on shipping. and the other ones thay had were buy it now for 250 and 150 shipping.
overall quality is very good. the top is not 100% smooth [small small bumbs and troughs]. finish is mirror. frame is 100% solid. fit was a bit off, but proper fucking with the bolts showed a better fit, mostly the pass side left a gap.
i got my camera, car, and comp in the same place so i'll take some pics today. and i'll also snap some of my 2001 BMW 740i Sport...
