Dead Tc

Well I can't get the car to start. It wont turn over, turn the key and nothing happens. I am charging the battery as I'm writting this. What else can it be if it wont turn over after the battery is fully charged? I recently had the car fluched and I covered the wires around the radiator's main hose, had to remove it in order to back flush "sealed unit".
The instrument cluster lights up and then everything goes blank when I turn the key. Any help out there?

That really sounds like a completely discharged battery.

It should be back to normal after it's changed.

Replaced the battery and it almost turned over "once". Still the same problem, I turn the key and I hear a loud thump and thats it. It has a factory alarm and still functions. Any and all advice welcomed.

Can not get the starter off the block. I get some play on the bottom of the starter but not the top. YES I removed the two bolts and the wires connected to the starter. HELP!!

Starter Motor: Removal

WARNING: WHEN SERVICING STARTER MOTOR (11002) OR PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE IN THE AREA OF THE STARTER MOTOR, NOTE THE HEAVY GAUGE INPUT LEAD CONNECTED TO THE STARTER SOLENOID IS HOT AT ALL TIMES. MAKE SURE THE PROTECTIVE CAP IS INSTALLED OVER THE TERMINAL AND IS REPLACED AFTER SERVICE.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

3. Disconnect starter cables from starter solenoid.

4. Remove upper and middle bolt.

5. Remove lower bolt and starter motor.


Installation

1. Position starter motor to engine and install middle and lower bolts finger-tight.

2. Tighten the upper bolt to 20-27 N-m (15-20 lb-ft).

3. Tighten the lower and middle bolts to 20-27 N-m (15-20 lb-ft).

4. Connect starter solenoid connector. Be careful to push straight on and make sure connector locks in position with a notable click or detent.

5. Install S terminal cable eyelet with washer and nut. Tighten to 4.5-6.5 N-m (40-57 lb-in).

6. Install starter cable nut to starter solenoid B-terminal. Tighten to 9-14 N-m (80-124 lb-in).

7. Replace red starter solenoid safety cap.

8. Lower vehicle to floor.

9. Connect battery ground cable.

I called the dealer and they told me that its only two bolts holding the starter. The replacement one that I bought has three holes, WHats Up. The dealer can't be wrong ;)

Great. Sounds like you got this one under control.

Called a second dealer, The 94 TC's had two differant starters one with 2 bolts and one with 3 bolts. I have the 3 bolts one figures.. :0.

How the hell do I remove the top bolt. There is no room for my hand or a rechet set. Help is need A.S.A.P.

SHE'S DEAD:( . See thats what I get for having my kid take care of the care. The motor is DEAD. Now it's going to cost me $2500.00 dollars to replace it.

This was a starter problem, how the hell did it turm into a dead engine ??

Well, before I tried to change the starter, I drained the oil and only got one quart of oil. my son had a problem not checking on the oil. I have checked the TC serveral times and noticed that it was down two/three quarts. I told him in the past that he has to keep up on it or the motor will give out. The starter on the TC works fine and the mech. tried to move the flywheel with the breaker bar. NO luck, the motor had seized up.. Where can I get a replacement motor or should I let her rest in peace. She has 140,000 miles.

Hey,

Have you called a shop on this? I knew someone who seized an engine by running it dry. The shop was able to free it up (whatever they do) and the engine was fine. Minor repair--depends on engine and circumstances. A Lincoln 5 liter or such withstands lots of abuse. Check that out first with a shop before throwing in the towel!!
