The mechanic says i should get a tranny flush but on century forums. I read it like it is a bad thing, a few weeks and tranny goes out....What should i do? It shifts hard, and when in Automatic Overdrive...when i stop sometimes it goes in nuetral when i let off the brake...then it'll "shutter" and get back into drive...But when i have it in regular drive it doesn't do it...

I personaly would not waste my money,If your trans is doing all that you say, its time for a tranny shop to look into it.

poor man's way of doing it is to unseat or cut the line going to the tranny cooler and let the system flush itself out. Reconnect, add 4 quarts, let run for a bit, shift through the gears a few times, and drain again. Reconnect and add a hose clamp, Fill and be on your way.

but I do agree with the guy above me

I use a similar method as well and flush my own GM and Ford. Does an decent job. Might try some Lucas transmission fixer in the transmission for hard shifts. Helped the old lady's Dodge shift smoother. If the car has a ton of miles on it and has never been cleaned / flushed may not help with flushing. Might not hurt to drop the pan and clean it and replace the filter.

And a word of advice if you do drop the pan....use the previously mentioned method to drain the transmission first.

the car has 196k on it, but it runs perfect in drive, just when i have it with d with the circle, is when its doing it, could it just mean that the overdrive is f^&ked up?
