Hey, everyone,
I've been looking at a few websites, that use an interface to connect the ALDL port to a PC, and by doing this be able to controll the ECM and do other nice things from your computer. However, there are so many different ones out there, I'm at a loss to figure out which one would work.

This: http://www.andywhittaker.com/ecu/aldl_hardware.htm
seems like it would work, but can anyone confirm if it will work on a 94 Cutlass Supreme, 3.4L DOHC? I heard that GM pulled the diagnostics pin on 94 and later models, making this device useless.

Any information would be really helpfull.

Firs of all, you should check what kind of interface you have (OBDI or OBDII). Although all cars built since January 1, 1996 have OBD-II system, manufacturers started incorporating OBD-II in various models as early as 1994. It seems thad olds 94 lives in a gray area:

I have a Cutlass Ciara 1993 that has an OBDI (ALDL) connector and was able to get some diagnostic trouble codes:

I think that 1994 models have an OBDII connector with an OBDI soul, the following link should be able to help you. It has other valuable links too. I guess you could try the paper clip test to make shure you are dealing with an OBDI system.

As far as if it works even though you find out it is an OBDI system I could not tell you at this time. I am building the RS232 to OBDI interface and will try it on my 93 Cutlass. I will let you know if I had any luck.

Looks nice! The thing is that it is an OBDII diagnostic tool for 96 and later models. As I said before, some 94 models came out with this systems but my best bet is that the cutlass 94 has an OBDII connector with an OBDI (ALDL) system.
