My celebrity encounter story...

The back story:
Right now, they are shooting a movie ("Endgame") here in Spokane, WA. James Woods, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Burt Reynolds are in town. Every day, they've got streets blocked off downtown, and traffic gets all messed up.

Anyhow, about 2 weeks ago, my friend Nadia was driving around downtown, not really paying attention, and Cuba Gooding Jr. stepped off a curb and she had to swerve to avoid him, and he gave her a dirty look. She called me up immediately afterwards and was like "OMFG, I almost ran over Cuba!"...

Cut to last Sunday evening...
The bar that I go to almost every night is a pretty swank/hip place, and every time they shoot a movie here (3 in the last 2 years), we get alot of the cast and crew in to hang out, and they usually have a wrap party there. Josh Hartnet played alot of pool there last summer, which was nice, because ALOT of hot women showed up because he was there.

So, Sunday night, I walk in, and the place is packed like a friday night, and I didn't recognize anyone. My friend Matt is the only guy working besides the cook, and he's running his ass off. I figured it was a crew party for the film because I didn't see Burt, James, or Cuba.

So, I sit at the bar, start drinking a beer (Snipes Mountain Coyote Moon if you must know), and about a half hour later, Cuba walks in and starts partying with everyone else. He ends up sitting next to me for about an hour, but I didn't talk to him... didn't want to be one of "those guys" you know? But there was something I really wanted to do... I knew I'd feel like a jackass if I did it, but I just had to... here's the convo:

Me: Hey Cuba...
Him: Hey how you doin'? (shakes my hand)
Me: It's nice to meet you, hey, how would you feel about punkin' somebody out?
Him: Naw, I'm just here to get a beer and get laid. dude's wearing a fat wedding band too :rolleyes:

So, I lie to him:
Me: Well, if you do this, I might get laid.
Him: Well, Shit... let's do what you gotta do!

I proceed to tell him the story about my friend Nadia almost running him down, and he totally remembered it. So then I convince him to call her up and bitch her out.

Thank god she answered the phone, because she was going to bed, but I dialed her number, handed him my phone, and he goes off on her for about 3 minutes! "So, what... A BLACK man can't come to spokane to make a movie without a white bitch tryin' to kill a negro?!," etc... Then told her "Me and Mike are down here buck-ass naked havin' a drink, so you better get down here, and you better be buck-ass naked too!" There was about 6 people standing there listening to the whole thing, and we were damn near crying from laughing so hard. Finally he hands me back the phone and says "She's coming down for a drink, and she better be hot!"... Doh! Nadia is not hot LOL.

She came down and apologized to him in person, and had a drink with me... Cuba left a while later with a chick I know, and I went home with a story to tell.

Great story...I lived with a rather rowdy individual last year who happened to have run into Vin Diesel one evening in London...well my friend was drunk and decided he should inform Vin Diesel that the majority of his movies were less than stellar.

Of course in his drunkeness it came out in a not-quite-so-polite manner. Within 3 minutes time, my friend was 'escorted' from the hotel bar to the pavement by hotel security.

Hey thats nice man. I work at the Davenport and see those guys all the time. I have become good friends with Cuba in the past month. Really nice guy, even invited me to come visit him this summer, on him!
