Drove Through High Muddy Water

The other day I was driving through this construction place and it started storming and there was about a foot of muddy water on the road and I didn't ahve a choice but to drive through it. Now my check engine light is on, but my car still drives fine, temp is okay, idles fine, and accelerates just as good as ever. Should I continue driving, or should I go to a shop and get it checked out?
