I am just trying to figure out what kind of trans fluid I should put in my 98 gti vr6? And when I change that does the differential fluid get changed as well or is that separate?
Also I am still having problems with my car hesitating in high gear at low rpms when I give a lot of gas. If anyone else has had any similar problems I would like to hear about them and maybe even some possible solutions. there is so many different things it could be and im not paying the dealer $100 just to tell me what it is.

Use 75-90 synthetic manual trans fluid. The diff is part of the trans and the fluid all gets changed when you drain/fill it.

What brand would you recommend? And are you sure synthetic is a good idea with my car having 65k miles? I dont think it has been changed yet.

Personally I think every manual trans fluid should be changed at least every 40k miles, or more if you agressivly shift. By using synthetic fluid its like doing 2 fluid changes because synthetic has more detergents to clean the transmission than normal cheap stuff.
Redline fluid is the best, along with royal purple. But you can also use mobile one or castrol. Whatever you want, the redline /royal purple is about 8.00 a quart. the mobile one is about 5. It uses about 4.5 quarts to change the fluid.

redline causes leaks go to the dealer and buy the OE stuff. OE lube is VERY expensive

the trans and diff are all inclosed in your transaxle by using 5w30 royal purple will work just fine it is alittle bit thinner than oem but with that many miles it will give your trans more life. It gained my nitrous fed jetta 8 horse at the wheels also think about going with royal purple engine oil.
