GDay everyone,

Just managed to get myself a Impreza RX (Australian version) 2001 model.
I know its nothing fancy, but its my first car and i didnt have the money to geta wrx.
I was wondering if there are any mods i can do to my RX to improve its performance (other than getting a WRX).
I dont want to change the exterior much, just want to get more power without showing it on the outside. This is due to car theft in Wollongong going up through the roof.

Work hard, sell it, and buy a rex:p .

Best thing to start off doing is, get a new air filter, descent exhuast system. That's a good place to start i guess, pretty much the same thing with the WRX for quick and cheap power gains.

Or......go to NZ for a day and buy a wrx over there, considering their weak dollar to our aussie dollar you could buy a 1995-1996 model for $15 000 (then a bit extra to bring it to AUS) the amount of money you could save doing that would be huge.

Anyways enough of my ramblings:D .

NO way. Oz law now says you must own it in NZ for at LEAST a year first. PLus used WRX=thrashed to shithouse.

Damn, didn't know about that law:( . Some nice Sti's with only 32 000kays on the dial for 38 000 odd:mad: .

As I said, think about the demographic of WRX owners. THen try to find one that hasn't been thrashed. When thinking about buying one second hand, you should at leat budget for a new clutch and full survice/major overhaul. And get it DAMNED well inspected. You can pick up Aus STI's for low $40ks. Oz.

When a car has only done 32 000kays it's safe to say it is in pretty good condition and if it had been thrashed, it wouldn't have been significant. Remember that NZ has different Import laws so they can get cars imported cheaper then us. From GT-R's, to EVO's to REX's, it's cheaper across the board. But as you said, you have to have owned the car for at least a year.:( .
