I have a question. Ok i noticed today that my oil cooler hose is leaking in the one that heads to the engine. I found that Advance sells them for 40 bucks. I noticed 2 bolts one at the top and one at the bottom. Besides draining the oil, is this all that would be needed to remove them. Kinda gets me mad since i just changed oil last week and it was fine.

I couldn't get the lines off on mine.(lack of proper tools)
I had to take it to a shop.
It only cost me about $60 in labour to get it done.

its going pretty good. I didn't know it till today when i smelled something burning like smell and since i put the new battery in, I saw it. I only saw 2 bolts on it. I ordered them from Rock Auto since Advance was no help to me up there. The Haynes manual like usual is useless,

I looked at it again this morning only 2 bolts. Would I have to drain the oil out of the engine or just remove the filter because if its cold the oil will be in the pan for the most part.

With those new gaskets do i need to apply rtv or can i put them in and just slap oil on them? I read a thread the other day about just putting oil on them but i want to be sure.

You only use the gaskets in the packge.
No RTV should be used at all.

The lines are usally fine. Just o-rings or the gaskets has leaks. But that is just in my 2 own.

No, most of the failures occur in where the rubber hose is crimped in the metal end fittings.

My lines were just fine. Just the gaskets and o rings needed to be replaced. This fixed my oil leak perfectly!

its like some parts are metal someparts are rubber i think it depends on where the hose sits under the car when it is routed because i have all these gaskets that have to be installed with them

From the oil cooler, to the filter, to the engine block area. My lines are all metal no rubber whatsever. Good luck is easy just tight workings.

Guys i have some big ol problems. I had it up on the ramps and i got the bottom bolt and top bolt and middle bolt off and out . The old lines are out and the new will not move into place. I get stuck at the oil pan and my dad and i can not get them up and over the pan. Any ideas? This kinda really sucks since we were going to VA tomm morning for the weekend and now probally have to go in the Cavalier.

ok i was thinking would it work if i raise the front end again unbolt skid plate then get a 2x4 out and gently move the oil pan over i know there weak but i think i can coax it enough that it will allow me to get it in.any opinions

not to let the thread hanging had to have it towed because no working with the wood piece and the mechanics quick fix to save towing bill no work. He gave it back to me about 2 weeks ago since then i had a massive oil leak then a pain in the ass oil leak and now waiting till tommorow to see if its fixed or if he has to look it over again. He told me to tighten all the bolts maybe a gasket weaped or what not. Also he told me one of the reasons it would not work when i went to install was the threads on the bottom where the hoses connect and top connect were turned 180 degrees wrong way so i am like ok i dont understand that but it is why i could not fix it.
