i am trying to decide whether I should paint my wheels on my 96 blazer ls two door or buy new ones. I like the look of them but I am wondering what you guys think they would look like powdercoated a metallic silver, or just some new ones.

I have the stock wheels and they are the ones with the holes in them.

Sorry I thought the 96 Blazer only had two types of wheels anyways, here is the wheel I have, except mine isn't quite as nice.

This is the same wheel but not my blazer, mine is a two door and white, I can powdercoat the wheels whatever color I want.

They look better clear coated.
What do you mean they look better clear coated, you can clear coat anything, do you mean just clear coat over the wheel as it is now, or paint then clear coat. The thing is my wheel isn't as nice as this one, and it needs something done but I am not sure I want to spend the time to paint them if It won't look good.

You could paint a little trim line around where the valve stem is, but if done crappily it wouldn't look good. That goes with any kind of paint though.
I definetely might also look into painting the insides of the holes. That would look cool, but it would be tedious.
Paint with brushed aluminum looks nice, but it'll look horrible if you spray paint all your wheels orange. Those wheels will look horrible if over painted. I would only do conservative trim if I felt the urge to paint.

Get them refinished or remove the clear coat yourself, remove any oxidization and re clear coat them yourself.
Will look better with clear coated metal than painted.

Would you just use a sander to take the clear coat off?

No, you will have to use something to dissolve it off like paint thinner or some equivelent solvent.
Google for it.

I was just going to sand blast them and then powder coat them silver, and then maybe some fine lines around the holes. I will let you knwo how they look when they get done.

Are you sure they are the clear coated brushed aluminum ones like the picture or are they the economy rims with the black plastic center cap? You see them on Blazers and S10 pickups that are part of a utility or securty company fleet.

Yes they are the brushed aluminum, and yes about stripping the clearcoat. They make a substance that strips paint and clearcoat, it is pretty messy but it works great.
