How can I reset the pcm(?) to take the tranny out of limp mode? My van will only run in first gear since I replaced the relay box under the hood and checked the BCM.

Everything elkse is perfect now, but the damn trans is not shifting now.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Nick

You can reset the pcm to reenable the tcm module, thus putting the tranny out of limp mode by disconnecting the -ve batt. cable for few seconds, if it persists, then you have a problem, did you restore the tcm relay, this relay supplies power to the tcm module.

sam

when tranny is in limp mode, you have 2nd and reverse only. not first.

One: Disconnect the Neg. battery terminal for about 5-10 mins. If this doesnt fix it, drive the van around the block a few times (in limp mode - slow) and let the trans. warm up. Once wamred up, stop the vehicle and turn it off. Then turn the key on and off again 4 times (note: by "on" I do not mean 'start' ). This will reset then trans. codes.

Good Luck! Hope that helps.

No luck, I tried to drive it for about 30 mins then pull the vehicle over. Turn it off, take the key out and turn it to the on position and then off 4 times. I tried the same but leaving the key in, I also tried it fast, slow and intermitent.
Nothing!
Is there a need to use the obdII scan tool to reset the codes?
It was fine before replacing the under hood fuse/relay box.

Get this, I had a problem with my turn signals and wiper motor not working so I swapped in a new fuse/relay under hood box. In doing so, I inadvertantly fucked it up. It was nice out yesterday, so I decided to tinker some more. I traced the wries around and what not and for shits and giggles, i decided to swap the old relay box back in. Go figure, it must contain a relay for the tranny limp mode or what not, because it repaired the trans problem. Now i am faced back with a bad relay box.

Is it possible that a relay or something electrical (external from the trans) is the culprit?
