Fuel Gauge

I have had this problem for about a year or more now. The gas sensor in the gas tank is not working. So i never know how much gas i really have. I have just been going by Kms to a tank or when i really have no gas the light comes on. Anyone know how much this is to replace the sensor?
I heard something about $800CAN from GM and thats why i havent got it fixed yet.. anyone else have this problem or know how much exatly it is to fix?

It sounds like a sending unit unfortunatly it is located in the fuel tank along with the fuel pump. The only way to replace the sending unit is to pull it out of the tank. That is why it is such an expensive repair. You will have to have the tank removed from the car in order to do the job.

I'd venture, [presuming the tank is solid,doesn't need replace] that the labor will be around 2 bills, the parts around 1 bill. Check www.autozone.com for a price on the sensor, but usually they drop in the pump and sensor as a whole unit.
