Im about to start looking for components for a new system and ive noticed that i see the reXXX, the brahma and some other subs ive never heard of or seen around here. Ive seen a set of REXXX 12"s in a truck and they sounded amazing, they hit real nice no distortion, didnt sound like a one note sub(audiobahn). I was looking at the orion vs. vibe aduio thread and looked at the sites that bumpin had listed in there.
I was looking for soemthing that would give me incredible bass but sounds clear. I was looking at 1-18" XXX or 2-15" XXX, everyone speaks so highly of them in here but I also looked at a few other subs that were suggested. I was looking at 2-15" Brahma subs they llok like they move some serious air in the videos they had but i was wondering what the sound like compared to the RE's. Im also looking at 2-15" rl-p from sound splinter once again what do they sound like like compared to the other subs. The last 2 subs im looking at are 3-12" jlw6, and 2-15" death penalty subs.
Just to clarify i want something thats going to hit hard as hell but doesnt sound like shit i want spl and sq in one sub setup. Until i have enough time to build a vented enclosure and tune it im going to running them sealed, i want a prefab vented and i can build a decent sealed one just for a few months. Any feed back on other reccomendations or is welcome. I know im not going to spend less than 2000 after amps, box, and speakers are all done to. This setup is for a 89 s10 blazer, i know im going to need a better alternator and another battery. Thanks in advance for any info.

well im pretty sure if you get a XXX 18" you will need atleast 1800 watts. And alot more for (2) 15's if you want to give them good power. Thats almost your 2G budget right there

Dude, I did something simular to this last summer for a guy but his budget was a little less. I installed a decent Pioneer deck that had some X-over controls on it. I then installed a 12" CompX woofer in a 1cu/ft box ported to 29htz. I had that being ran off a 750d amp. MAN DID THIS THING POUND. The customer was more than pleased. He was a little skeptical at first because I suggested only one subwoofer while he was liking his buddy's set up with 4 MTX's. Well, needless to say his buddy was then all pissed because this hit harder and sounded much crisper than the MTX setup.

Well with the speakers im looking 2000 was the least i was expecting to pay i was wondering what a 18" XXX would also cost i was expecting 750 or so. I was also looking into some mb quart components for the front(custom kick panel) not sure for my dash maybe some 4x6 plates. And the rear is 6x9 so i was looking into some kick ass 6x9 speakers. I was looking at getting a panasonic hu i cant remember the model but i had a panasonic back about a year ago and it was damn well better than most of the other shit on the market.
I was thinking of going with mtx but i wanted something different and something i wouldnt need 4 of to make pound. Ive heard that the xxx ive just never heard an 18. I wasnt planning on going cheap on the amp either i was looking at between 1400 and 1800 watts rms true power not legacy or some other shit that tripples there rms then doubles it and lists the peak power as the amp model. Any suggestions on a good amp within that range or higher are appreciated. I was looking a jbl amp, precision power, or a directed. I know theres better but i need some suggestions, from what i was running before this is a serious upgrade, and i was stuck within the confines of ebay and crutchfield, cause im sure as hell not paying circuit city or best buy for an amp. Ebay is where i found the amps at real good prices.
Thanks in advacne for any more feedback or suggestions on amps or info on the subs or other subs.

What price are you getting it at?
Look for a SoundStream VGA 1600.2
Great amplifier, might be cheaper...peace

You could see if anyone has any 1500d Directed Audio amps left. They are the same as the PPI that you are looking at. DEI has cancelled those models so you should find them cheap!

Honestly I'd do one of the 2 15" setups. If you insane low lows that will shake everything and sound damn good go with the RL-Ps If you want some loud ass bass and still sound good go with some DP15's if you want smooth even bass that can still get loud ass hell go with the xxx15's but ill warn you xxx's don't like selaed boxes and DP's aren't the greatest in them.... the RL-Ps will love a smaller sealed box though. And brahmas aren't available unless you get it used Adire is revamping their lineup.

Ok il start looking into some of the 2-15 setups. Yeah i want insane lows but i want them to sound good(ive heard alot about the RE subs). I was also wondering if anyone knew the prices for the RE XXX lineup. I was looking at the 18" because 1 huge sub looks cooler and then i dont have to worry about setting the gains or x-overs on the amps so there the same. Il look into pricing on the DP15 and the RP-L 15.

Ok il give them a call when i get a chance. IM pretty sure 1-18" would kill about 95% of what everyone has in this area Audiobahn, MTX, Alpine, maybe one good JL car but im tired of getting what people said where great subs and they dont perfrom like i was expecting. The only thing ive owned that was good was a set of infinity perfects and from what i read in here the RE is 10 times better than those. Thanks for all the info im still not sure which ones to get but il check pricing and go from there.

Brainwashed? is that why RE will ass rape DEI anyday of the week? or is that because nothing directed compared to the XXX line? :)
XXX18 required HUGE ammounts of air space. 4cubes sealed an 6.5 minimum ported. optimal would be in the 10cuft range ported.
it isnt that XXX's dont like sealed, its that they arent as efficent as the brahma. what may take a brahma 15 to reach mechanical limits you can tripple to do the same with an XXX.
2 15's > Surface are than 1 18 but 2 15's need ~1.5x's the power to get as loud.
1 ported XXX18 properly powered will beat alot of multiple w7 set ups and will kill most single w7 set ups. 13's or not.
Try 1 XXX 18 7cuft tuned to 28Hz with 2kw and see how you like it ;) ....if you can hear afterwards.

Its an 89 s10 blazer so i got some space im going to get some spray in sound deadener so it wont rattle(as much). I had 2-infinity perfects, and 2 polks(it was the beater system from hell and the roof rack would jump about an inch on the beams. I would love to do a 2-18 setup but man that would be fucking heavy, if i can afford it i might eventually jump to that. How much over rms rating can the re handle. Im expecting about 800 for the sub maybe less not sure yet and about 500-600 for a nice amp so a 2-18" setup would be bitchin. Whats some good amps to look at ive looked at precision power an ma audio(not worth the time) any suggestions would be good.

2000 was the minimum i was planning on spending i was expecting between 2500 and 3500 after all is sadi and done. Speakers, hu, subs, box, amps and so on. I wanted to start looking at subs then work my way to amps then speakers already decided on hu. Besides the RE looks bitchin even though its not an actual pic. Im still looking at precision power and i started looking a hifonics any word on them.

As far as subs go stick with IA RE or AA...... since u gotta little bit extra to spend on and amp..... shit u should get an IA 20.1 on a pair of dual 2 ohm subs and run that bitch .5ohms daily. Pair of sx18's for sql little more on the spl side pair of avalanche 18's for a little more on the sq side.....hit up djdilliodon on AIM for components from CDT and get whatever HU u like form a realible brand...... where u located I wanna set this shit up....????

No im thinking of using 1inch mdf. I already looked into a box last night i came up with a 20"x20"x25" for 5 cuft and then i need to look into a port design. Im thinking 2-18"s it came to me in a dream, if im looking at 2-15"s then fuck it. I figured that 1500-1750 would be good for power for each im still looking at precision stuff. I seen pricing somewhere and it said like 499 for an 18" and like 449 for the 15" not sure but hell il dump an extra grand into the truck for more bass.

That little truck will look like ass with all that weight in the back. Also, 1" MDF is overkill for those subs. 3/4" with bracing should do just fine.
Of course, that's just me. I try to keep the system as light as I can. It makes me laugh to see some bumping car looking like it's hauling fat chicks in the back.
I did a system with 8 12's in a TrailBlazer. I had to install airbags on the back so it sat level. I had just over 5 cubes of internal space in the enclosure. Without the bags, the ass squatted 4".

i had 4-12s in the back of a 2.8 87 s-15 and it didnt drop the back but only 1 maybe 1.5 inches. And i had 3 people sitting on the back the stock springs are pretty strong, im dropping it 3 inches all around in like a month so im not to worried about the ass end sagging that bad. Yeah its a lot of weight but il be riding with one for like 5 or 6 months if i decide to bump it up to 2 then i look into some air bags.
