throttle body

I did a bit of digging on performance stuff for my new to me 01. Seems throttle body spacers don't really do anything. BUT increased bore throttle bodies do. The 01's already come with wider bore throttle bodies. But the Red Rubicon one at 62mm sure looks cool.

And exhaust. Not just cat back stuff. Headers, free flow convertor AND cat back. Of all the stuff the testing looks to be this is the greatest boost. But the dollars are quite high. The question becomes one of value over performance real quick when I'm looking at near a grand for a complete easy flow system.

Chip plugins for computer system. Usually advance the spark and play with fuel mixture. Other than that what can they do?

Do the newer throttle bodies fit on earlier model cherokees? I have a 92 and would love to get a bigger throttle body.

Check them out.

I also read on one of the forums that you can take yours to a quality machine shop and it can be bored quite easily and for much less than buying a replacement throttle body.

In doing some more reading I may want to consider the fully opened TB replacement on my 01. There are several sources as I dig around with some not being all that expensive. They just use stock 01 TB and have them opened/bored, polished and resold. You send in yours as the core and the overall cost is pretty low.

Check this out. This guy says the TB replacement is THE thing to do and the FIRST thing to do.

I'm still working on the TB thing in my head.

Since the throttle butterfly plate essentially changes the throttle body bore depending on position of the plate, isn't most of the time the actual bore of the throttle body way less than the restriction of 57mm (or whatever it is exactly) of the body's bore?

So the only time having the fully bored TB to 63 or 64mm is going to make a difference is when the throttle butterfly plate would be open passed the 57mm or the OEM bore? In other words, full throttle conditions is about the only time having the bigger bore TB would show any impact? Most of the time isn't the bore of the TB already way less than 63 or 64mm because throttle position?
