blink,blink,blink

97 explorer 4.0 sohc control track all wheel drive.on the dash the 4x4lo and 4x4hi lights blink 6 times every 2 minutes.does this when driving and sitting still.does not matter if engine is running or not.i engaged the 4x4 yesterday and when i made a turn it started grinding and it felt as though i had the brake on.when not engaged in 4x4,it runs fine.any suggestions?

the blinking is a trouble code.....use that and go to your dealer or repair shop to find out the meaning of the code.

Don't drive in 4 while on dry pavement. You WILL get a grinding and you can do damage to the system.
