I have an '02 voyager with about 38,000 miles. Got an inspection today and turns out the power steering pump is leaking. The guy said he's never seen one go with such few miles. Got a quote of about $700 to replace. Is it really that expensive? Is it really difficult to replace?

That is early , I had the same problem on 96 at about 4-5 years where the case rusted and became porous and was leaking thru the metal , the metal is so thin on these things now that the salt is eating right thru it and I keep the thing washed even in winter when I can . We live in Rochester ,NY where salt is king . I would go after chrysler for this also specially only being 2000 miles past warranty on the thing . I think they are yanking you , just looked at a chrysler parts site and it's $72 for the pump . You can look here http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getLocator&siteid=213794&chapter=DP3040&appSectionid=21&groupid=10041&subgroupid=61228&make=8&model=Grand%20caravan&year=2002&catalogid=1

I had a power steering leak on my 2001. It would leak 1/2 a liter in a week. It turned out to be on of my line going to the powersteering cooler. The line only comes with the cooler, and my cooler was good.
I went to a local automotive shop and the got me a hose close to the original. Put it on and I have no worries. That was over a year ago.

Thanks for all the feedback.
BTW, I goofed on the number of miles. It has just under 36k. Our warranty expired on time (5 months ago) not miles. So I called my local Chrysler service shop and explained the situation. I asked if this is something Chrysler would help out on, and without hesitation the guy said yes. WOW! I really expected a fight. Of course they'll need to assess the problem themselves (they didn't do the inspection), but it sounds like it may work out OK for me.
