Just learn to drive manual. It is not that hard, and it makes you a better person.

I don't see any advantage to owning an automatic.
Nothing wrong with it, but if you have the choice between 5 spd or auto on a sport compact car, then why chose auto?
Being too lazy to learn should not be an excuse.

Can't go back to auto once you drive stick...it would be too dull.
Definitely stick.

Most sticks are cheaper than autos and you dont have to worry about replacing the tranny because (at least w/ honda) you can get them for really cheap.

Lol, how many of you have been driving an automatic car..and while turning in somewhere...hit the break hard because you are used to a clutch :o Kind of funny because while you expect it to roll into neutral, the car slams to a halt :p

Speaking of which, I also have a funny experience driving an automatic after being used to manual.
I was driving my friend's civic (auto) and we were stopped on a steep uphill, so instead of keeping my foot on the brake (to avoid rolling back), I tried "riding" the gas pedal.
I was fully aware that I was driving auto, but I simply forgot that I could just use the brakes. So here I am tapping the gas and sliding down and suddenly jerking upwards continuously in an almost panick stricken state cuz I forgot what I was supposed to do.
The people behind me must've thought I was a retard.

you dont brake on hills in a manual?
you really shouldnt ride the gas, auto or manual.. its a good way to ruin the torque converter in an auto, and shorten the life of the clutch in a manual.
you should be able to get the car moving without rolling back more than 6".. no matter how steep the grade. (in a manual)
that is unless of course you are new to manual and haven't got the clutch/gas timing down yet

get tired of driving a stick? Definitely not. Autos are boring and you'll fall asleep at the wheel before a manual

nothing quite like destroying your 3rd gear synchros either
NEVER skip gears when downshifting unless you do a full double-clutch shift
incidentally the only time manual gets tiring is when there is a traffic jam and the traffic moves 3 feet and stops.
