door locks lock but no unlock

heres one for the books i have a ninety one lebaron convertible i can lock the doors but i cant unlock the door itook the switches out and when i turned them upside down and plug them into the harnesses the wrong way they work fine but when you put them back the wrong way they dont fit in the door panels so i checked the switches and i checked them for continuity they worked fine................

any help would be greatly apreciated
