Wierd noise after 2" drop????

Ok, didnt happen at first but after a day or 2 it started up. Comming from the front passenger side. Now the noise is not constant, if I am accelerating, or braking I cannot hear it. However if I am just driving straight and either not stepping on the gas, or just keeping a constant speed I can hear it. It is a hard noise to discribe, its almost like somehting is rubbing however I does not appear that its possible. i have checked and there is clearance all the way around my tires. I am riding 16" x 7" rims on 205/50/16's I have turned the wheel all the way from side to side and it does not come close to anything as far as rubbing so It couldnt be the tires or rims. Also I had new axle shafts and cv boots and joints installed last year so I dont think that one of thoughs could have done bad again. I cehck the boots and they are still perfectly intact. What els should I check and how? How would I check the axle shaft to make sure that nothing is wrong with it??

First off the sound goes allong with the speed of the tire.
What I mean is if I am going fast the sound is faster like a rubbing grinding noise for every revolution of the tire. If I am creeping up to a stop at like 3-5 miles an hour its just a slow long rubbing gringing sound. I will try and get some audio of it but it may be to quiet to pickup on a recording.

ok here's my guesses.....if it's a grinding sound, like metal on metal, it could be your sqealers indicating that you need new brakes.....

if you got new brakes recently, the it could be the calipers just touching the roters like if they got bumped or soemthing, this happens to lowered cars sometimes because they are so low they can pick up debrie from the road, it happened to me once, took it to midas and they just moved the caliper a bit, took about 30 seconds and no charge.... just some guesses. good luck

I did just change my brake pads last summer, but I thing you are right on the money with it cus I had a friend pull car forward and back while I was down by the wheel listening. And the noise is deff. comming from outside of the rotor, its not behind it. So It couldnt be anything with the suspention. I think you are right on the money about the dirt thing too because it wasnt till about 3 days after it was lowered that it started making the noise. Another interesting fact, the other day the idea of dirt between the caliper and rotor hit me so I took it to a wash with a pressure hose and sprayed it out. Thought it fixed the problem adout 3 blocks away it cam back but sounded a little bit different. SO thats got to be it. DO you know how they adjusted the caliper? Cus I know for a fact that they shops here will probably charge me if it involves taking the tire of and using a wrench. They are just like that here, so I would like to do it myself. Sorry for the novel. Thanks for the info though, didnt realise you could adjust the caliper. ALso maybe Ill just take my pads off and clean em good and put em back on.

i'm glad to have been of some help.....i'm not sure how you would adjust the caliper, but it sounds like that what you are experiencing is exactlly what happened to me, so i would just take it in to a shop, they will just put it on the hoist and take a quick look, and probably move it slightly and that will be the end of it, even if they do charge you it would probably cost like $5 max.....seriously it took them under a minute when it happened to me.... hope it all works out!

Problem solved.
Put it on the rack, took tire off. Pushed on the backplate and voila!!
No charge. It also appears I am in need of a new oil pressure sensor, mine is leeking. 15 bucks.

hey protek, same thing is wrong with my car. what is the backplate of the caliper? the pad or what?
i was worried about my car, the noise has gotten worse. my girl had hit the passenger side front on a dip and then it started. thought she'd messed up something.
