How often should you replace a CAI filter? I can't remember off hand.... :uhoh: :eek7: Also...does installing a splash guard REALLY REALLY matter? I have one, but haven't installed it b/c of this damn cold ass weather we're having.

i read somewhere that you should wash it when you change your oil, i dont have a splash guard on mine and i've had no problems but when its 20 out there really its anything splashing. i havnt driven my car since saturday

i dont know how reliable what i read is but the filter should be washable so you dont have to change it just wash it. as for how often i really dont know that seems to me to be pretty often also

It all depends on how much of a clean freak you are with your car, lol. But on average about every 5 oil changes or 30k miles, the filter should be cleaned. You can change the cotton, but y do that, when AEM sells a filter cleaning kit. If you dont wanna buy that, here are basic instructions on cleaning it.

Just remove the filter, and spray on fliter cleaner and let sit for 15 minutes. Then with a garden hose on gentle pressure ( too much will force the cotton guaze out ) rinse from the inside out, the reverse of the air flow. Once all the air filter oil is removed, the filter will be white. Let dry naturally; sit in the sun for about 15 minutes.

Now I have never done this myself, but this is some info I came across. Hope it helps.
