Untill I found this, witch I think is a great place wish I had of known about it earlier.
I tried a search for this but no luck, tons of Trac stuff though.
I use to never bother with the Tac button on my 99gt, lately I've been turning it off when I drive and was surprised at the difference in performance.
Now I'm curious.
I know how a mechanical posi trac rear end works but how does it work on my 99gt? it must be electronic right?
If I forget to turn it off when I start does it work on the fly?
It almost seems like the switch is ass backwards.
I'm just looking for something brief my brain is old and its late in the day.

I'm not sure what the "posi trac rear end" is that you're talking about, but I can tell you how your traction control works - when it detects wheel slippage, it leans out your A/F ratio and cuts timing, creating a lean condition that kills power, and keeps it like that until your wheels slow back down to equal speed. Disabling it allows the computer to focus on nothing but fuel delivery, and not worry about stupid shit like cutting timing and wheel slippage - I turn it off first thing every time when I get into my grand am, and it makes a noticable difference on launches.

Thanx Ridenour: That just help solve another problem that relates to a bad MAF sensor with the Trac on and I get wheel slip I lose all power.
That can be dangerous if your trying to get out of the way.
Any how I drive with it off now.
I thought there might have been something mechanical going on like Posi-Traction.So I'm assuming I is safe to turn it off on the fly.
