my friend seems to beleive his car put down those #'s with jus i/h/e fuel rail ,fpr ,and injectors ... but its funny because he told me personally that it was at 162 whp and 122 tq ... i still have trouble beliving those #'s , let alone the 184 ... are these #'s at all possible with that setup ??

NO. Those numbers are no where near possible with I/H/E/FR/FPR and injectors. The fuel rail, and fuel injectors are contributing nothing to the hp, so the only power adders it has is I/H/E. You can't gain 40 or more WHP with I/H/E.

162 would even be high for that setup

150whp would be high for that

probally around 130-140hp peak like the a2s, etc.

a3 is 160hp, so roughly 130-135whp

he says he has a chipped ecu ... he can redline at 9 , but it doesnt feel like its making power that high .... plus his car didnt feel any different after the so called ecu upgrade ... when i raced him in my gs-r with only cai , i was inching away fromhim every time ... there is no way his car is putting those #'s down ... i just needed some educated opinions on my side ... he claims its will give him ALOT more hp once he tunes it with a vafc ....

The chip may let him redline that high, but he isn't making any power by doing it. He may even be losing power by reving that high. It's like when people say that their cold air intake gives them 10hp, just because the company says it will.

you wont really see gains with a VAFC unless there are some internal mods that require a different air/fuel mixture(such as cams, or higher compression pistons).

i say you race him and let him believe whatever he wants, that way you can say "My Semi-stock 160hp(or however much you are making) gsr beat your "190hp" B16"

So you mean a cold air intake won't give me another 10 hp? J/K, lol.

so, if you dont get any HP wiht bolt ons, why people buy expesive parts anyways?
wouldnt be the same just to buy cheap things? after all, you are not gaining power.
Im just saying, dont come wiht answers trying to make me look stupid.

Nobody was saying that boltons don't give you power they are saying that the boltons don't give you as much power as the manufacture claims.

i didnt know there was such a thing as a jdm b16a3.

Yep. And there's a US b16a3. It's in Del Sols. If he was getting that much power with boltons I guess I spent too much money when building my friends b16 to 200 na whp. I needed pistons, cams, port & polish, intake manifold, i/h/e, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, Hondata, a 10,000 rpm redline (which sounds rad i might add). Well we got a little over 200whp, but with just i/h/e we saw 142.2whp on a 1997 Del Sol vtec.

i think omniman did it(200hp B16) with a ~9000rpm redline; rebuilt bottom end(with stock parts), and a tricked out head(includes head work+cams, etc.)and hondata s100.

no way he can hit 200whp with the mods you listed there

DH Racing holds a record using all Honda parts with port & polish work getting 189whp with a stock bottom end b16. They put in CTR cams and ported and polished head intake manifold, throttle body and I'm sure exhaust manifold.

go on rocket motorsport's forum. they have a video of the build and dyno. note: it was dynoed at trackmasters(by bubba, the guy that built leslie durst's crx), and they said it was making more than 200hp because the trackmasters dyno reads lower than the other dynos.

heres a quote from the website:
The parts were:
2 sets of cams , M24x/RM m22/dynamic stg A's
valve springs, port flow
