got some coilovers

hi guys i got a set of aprings for my hatch for cheap. i was wondering if stock shocks are able to fit with no problem and how much can i drop the car with stock shocks. i believe the coild have up to a 4 inch drop.

You might get 1.5" drop and get away w/ stock shocks, but they'll wear out a little quicker. I droped my crx 2" w/ stock shocks and 2 weeks down the road they were already bad

YES YES, this can't be said enough, spend the money and get a set of good shocks and a caber kit.

1st: if you lower it and blow the shock you have to take it off again and do the work twice.
2nd: the camber on hondas are nasty and will eat the shit out of your tires. and if you get one after you put them on you will have to pay for not one but 2 front end alignment (spell). so think about that.

Or you could just not lower your car so much... You should think about what CBURKE said, but consider what your car is going to be used for... show, daily driver, track car, etc.

I've had Arospeed coilovers on my car for 3 years now and the struts are nothing special and one was even re-valved once and they've been through a lot, probably more than most boi racers will see. I've raised my car up to be at about 1.75" of drop and I haven't had a problem. I occasionally bottomed out when the front was slammed about 2.25" and tore out the plastic fender guard once in a drift through a big dirt hole by accident (I was staring at some girls). As for tire wear I've never had much problem even with negative camber...

we have struts guys, just thought i would throw that in :smile:

i droped my 4 door 3" and no problems at all. its a little rough over big bumps but it handles great.
my struts are stock. one thing, if your going that low, learn how to back in or dont pull up too close to curbs...i havnt done it yet but i know it will take the bumper off.
btw i have arospeed coilover kit

if you were to drop the front 2" and the back 1.75" would the stock shocks be able to handle the drop?

Stock struts are not valved for lowering springs or crappy coilover sleeves.

Struts are a type of shock absorber, they both control springs. Shocks are mounted seperate of springs while struts have the springs mounted to them. Shock, strut it's all the same thing.

DON'T BE CHEAP WITH SUSPENSION OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!! Still people don't listen and they're back in a month bitchin' about the setup.

I'd rather have adjustable damping than adjustable height for street use. Adjustable ride height springs(sleeves or true coilovers) are a pain to setup, and they need to be setup every time the ride height is changed. "Setup" is not eye balling it, takes 4 scales and an alignment rack.
