Alright, I'm new but have a question about changing the engine in my 97' cavalier. It's a 5 speed coupe and I'm looking to change to a stronger engine. My friends told me that a gtp v6 3.8L works best but, I don't know anything about them and mixing trannys and how all that would work out. Any information at all on better options or possibilities or anything that would help me out would be greatly appreciated. Thanx for your time.

i think u should go with the 2.4 twin cam because if i remember correctly u can use the same tranny and i dont think u can hook a four cylinder tranny up to a v6 unless your planning on chaning everything in the first place. there also might not be enough room in the engine bay for a v6 im pretty sure ive seen some other threads around about this look around

u cannot use the same tranny from a 2.2. on on a 2.4L engine. A 3800 will fit into the engine bay without modification.

*Edit* without cutting into the fire wall or without moving the radaitor. Yes you are right about a whole new motor mout for it. It was a blatent comment about not needing to enlarge it.
