One ticket is enough for me. First time I ever got pulled over. And they fucking stick it to me. I'm going to try my best not to speed, and I think I'm done with street racing. Still gonna race at the track though... But yeah..all good things come to an end..I've been street racing for about a year without getting pulled over..I finally got pulled over. Luckily, I wasn't racing at the time. But yeah..it's been fun. :sadwavey::sadwavey::sadwavey::sadwavey::sadwavey:

Sorry to hear that man, At the track depending on what you do it can be more fun then on the street. I dunno if u like road coarses but i would def sign up with the scca and get involved with races over there. Luckly for me when i am not out being a bonehead and looken for streat races, i drive like a grandma either right at or or a lil under the speed limit. Keeps me outa trouble and saves gas.
EDIT:  at street racer

You'll eventually run into people on the street and race them though. Maybe now you don't think so, but down the road you'll get the itch again as sad as it is. Make sure you get an attorney to take care of that ticket yikes 85 in a 45 is bad.

Dampachi, you're such a wuss. All this talk about racing Detroit, Luos, me, and now you're gonna quit because a cop pulled you over for speeding . Now you're just making excuses. That's cool. You know, it's alright to back down. I understand. Take the easy way out. If that's how you want to be. :grinno: J/P dampachi. His girlfreind. Everyone loves racing, but we can find other things to do rather then 24/7 racing. Giving up street racing is a good sign of maturity, unfortunatly im not there yet. With a track near by, he is sure to have alot more fun, and instead of radials he can be on slicks. He will have lots of fun indeed.

I'll race you guys at the track. I didn't get a $40 ticket for 5 over..or something like that. I got a $275 5 point ticket. For speeding. For going 83mph. By radar. On the same road I street race on. Imagine if I got pulled over street racing+speeding. I'd be fucked. Not that I'm not already.

Man...only 5 points for that? Here, it woulda been nasty. Points systems must be a little different.
I got a 6 point ticket for 22 over driving a fucking Saturn. Never been ticketed driving my T/A, and only gotten one minor ticket in the Grand Am. I got nailed for 77 in a 55 in a 99 Saturn SC2. I didn't know the damn thing went that fast.....
Good luck Damp, seeing as it is your first ticket, I bet it gets lowered at least.

I love it when people say the cops are sticking it to them. Don't break the law and you won't get tickets, it's that simple. I've gotten a lot of tickets in the past, had seven tickets in less than nine months and my insurance dropped me. I didn't complain, I paid my tickets, paid some crazy insurance rates for a while and went on with my life. I still speed, and when I get caught, I pay the fine, that's how it works. I probably average about one ticket a year now. I know when I'm speeding, I know at all times exactly how fast I'm going, and I know what the speed limit is, if I choose to break that limit, I'm prepared to pay the fine if I get caught.

dampachi, sorry to hear about your ticket ... we've all been there. Glad to hear you are taking it to the track. I suspect if you challenge the ticket and are polite about it ... you can get it knocked down quite a bit.
I have had my last 10+ tickets reduced or eliminates completely by challenging them. I have only lost one completely.
You'll eventually run into people on the street and race them though.
... possibly, that happened to me when I first quit.
But then you have certain experiences that completely change the way you view it. That's when you know for sure you are done street racing.

oh man thats easy to talk your way out of. YOu should be able to get it reduced since its your FIRST ticket. I got a 66MPH in a 55MPH ticket talked down to impeding traffic, zero points. Speeding tickets are becoming jokes these days. If you know what you can do, you almost always wont get any points, just a fine.
All you need is a good radar detector. It would have told you that cop was their a block before you got to him. I dont know how many times my radar detector has saved me from tickets.

If you're referring to radar detectors, VA and CT are the only states that I'm aware of where they are illegal. I'd have one in my truck, but I do a lot of driving in VA, and the fine for getting caught with one is $350. So I just pay attention to traffic and typical hiding spots :smokin:

That's nothing, I talked my way outta street racing at 115 in a 45, speeding in 107 in a 55, two 90s in 45s, and 6 other assorted speeding/racing tickets...only ticket that has stuck is a $30 seatbelt ticket (that was my punishment for doing 107 in the 55). VA is strict on everything. They'll pull you for dark window tint, radar detectors, and if you have out of state tags, 56 mph in a 55, lol.
When I go to VA, I make sure to keep it on 55 mph (I have dark windows, and out of state tags, lol, sure don't want to draw any more attention to me by flying).

Anyone have one?
Has it saved you?
I have a friend with a pretty nice explorer (20 in chrome rims, chrome grill, flowmaster exhaust system, aftermarket lights and back lights etc)
anyway he speeds a hell of a lot because he lives far away from school and got the passport escort radar detector.... He has never had a ticket.

I have one, spent big bucks on the valentine radar detector. If anything it has shown me that almost NO cops patrol the area i cruise in. I have yet for my radar detect a speed trap. It does how ever detect the photo radar lights from quite far away.

I have an idea. Let's not start talking about radar detectors. I've been street racing since I got my license..and yes..this is the first time I've ever been pulled over. When I told the cop that..he was shocked. I don't know what I should do/say in court. Suggestions?
BTW: In MD...12 points = suspended license. If you're caught street racing..it's speeding+reckless driving+engaging in a drag race on public road+whatever else they can throw at you. Totalling atleast 16 points. Which is an automatic suspension. It just isn't worth it anymore.

LOL. Yeah, that'd be pretty loud. Mine's just a fake dual exhaust (One 3 inch inlet, dual 2.5 outlets) plus still have a cat. Now the racecar....only headers, lol.
dampachi, you're going to like the track only stuff much better. Cops respect you for taking it to the track instead of the street, plus you get all the other benefits that me and others have said.
It may cost you a little more money (probably $20-$25 to race--hey, that's better then hundreds of dollars for a ticket plus extra insurance) BUT if you're good enough to win, then you'll get something in return (usually a big trophy and a couple hundred dollars for the "Trophy Class" plus bragging rights).
I can help you with your dial ins and all that stuff if you need it (bracket racing is what goes on at tracks unless its a special event for people that don't know).

Just about the radar detectors...so what if they are illegal? I mean even if they were universally legal...I know I sure as hell would still hide it from the cop when I get pulled over...otherwise they interpret it as equivalent to confessing you speed.
Before mine broke, when I saw the blue and red lights behind me, I'd slow and put on my signal that I was pulling over, and I would have the detector unplugged and under a seat way before the cop had a visual on me. (you don't want them thinking you are reaching for a gun, but you sure as hell don't want them seeing the RD either).

That reminds me of that guy who got pulled over and they thought he was some guy who was wanted for murders and all kinds of shit. And so when the cop approached his door..he had a shotgun..and the guy reached for his wallet and the cop shot him right in the face. He was some random innocent guy. Who wasn't doing anything. His girlfriend was also in the car.

Well, as far as your suggestions of what you can do for your ticket. I'll just tell you to go to court and speak with the judge. I'm pretty sure he will be quite understanding considering this is your very first ticket. He'll obviously see what type of car you drive as well, and you can reply with something like "I was just wondering what it was like to see how fast it could go". After all it is a Mustang, and the sole purpose is for the power and speed, correct?
I'm sure the judge will go easy on you. Just remember what I said. Show good manners, also dress very formal, not tuxedo formal, and don't go in there with jeans and a t-shirt on, it shows disrespect. You haven't gone yet have you? Well, let us know when the time comes. L8...

hey musashi idk if you were being sarcastic or not about cops not liking imports, but from my experience cops in my town definately dont like my car. I bought it with tints and a fart can, and i used to get pulled over a minimum of once every 2 weeks. i cant count how many times ive been pulled over for tints, or loud muffler. I got pulled over twice in a matter of 2 hours for a missing headlight. cant really complain since i usually get off with verbal warnings. anyways, my friend drives a mustang GT with tints which is a hell of a lot louder then my car, and he drives it like an asshole. i cant remember him getting pulled over once, and we always drive around the same places. Idk maybe its just bad luck on my part, but i did end up removing my tints about 5 months ago due to a fix-it ticket, and i havnt been pulled over since. BTW dampachi im real sorry about ur ticket and i know exactly how u feel after my first (only) speeding ticket i felt depressed as hell all the next day. i have a feeling ur gonna get off easy, i got trapped doing 67 in a 40, and in CT anything over 60 is an automatic court appearance. i went to court, donated $100 to charity and the ticket was forgotten about

Racing legally on track or something sounds more interesting to me but ill avoid any street race. The most I do is speed alittle on a clear road when nobody is around.

BTW: In MD...12 points = suspended license. If you're caught street racing..it's speeding+reckless driving+engaging in a drag race on public road+whatever else they can throw at you. Totalling atleast 16 points. Which is an automatic suspension. It just isn't worth it anymore.
Don't even complain. In California if you're caught racing they crush it in front of you (Irregardless of whether or not it is paid for). This ridiculous method stopped almost everyone from racing at the illegal sites.

you'll be back. i swore off speeding after every one of my 5 tickets, but here i am =)
in CA, you only get 3 points, speeding=1 point, street racing = 2 points
my driving record = 2, possibly 3 points if i lose in court next month

Ughh your lucky you got it in your local area and not out of state. The two tickets I've gotten have been hours and hours away and at both times I wouldent have a car in the near future to be able to contest the ticket. I hate how they alway get you when your out of state, the local cops are real nice.

I have a pretty good one I got out of...65 in a 25 zone...passed an undercover patrol car over a double yellow line in a residential area...only reason I got off is A. I pulled over and waited for him as soon as I saw him put the globe flasher on his dash and B. he was off-duty at the time and didn't feel like writing a ticket...I didn't even REALLY get a warning.

You were doing almost twice the posted speed limit, what did you expect, a pat on the back? Go to court, admit your guilt, they'll knock it down, pay whatever fine they give you and get over it already.

Guilty? WTF? no Dampachi dont do that.
How many of have actually ever been to court over a ticket? its not even a trial. before you got to an actuall trial where a judge will listen to you you will be appointed to go to a "hearing". the hearing is a meeting between you and a hearing officer who will review your record and make you an offer so that this case does not get to go to court. the fact is courts are way full as it is and way backed up and way too much paperwork for one case. so inorder to avoid all that the court will make you an offer. you will go in to a small court room. a hearing officer will ask you to stand in fron of a podium. she/he will read out your violation and date when it happened and say "I will offer you no points, no school, and a reduced sentence of $$$" you say "I accept" and get off with a reduced sentence of like 120-150 bucks and no pints man. it is you first violation, you always get away with it on your first time! ALWAYS! believe me dude this is gonna be so simple your gonna feel silly for stressing this man. oh and if anything you would plead "no contest" this means you are not saying you are guilty but you are not able to prove your inosence.

That's what I meant, just don't go in there trying to fight it, you know you did it, take your punishment like a big boy. I've been to court several times over tickets, and you're right, you show up, they offer you a deal, you take it.

Well with my first ticket I never had to meet with a hearing officer. All I did was sign up, pay the court fee, and then I went to court. I guess it kind of helped that my dad was there. Because I told the judge that my dad gave me the TA. The judge laughed of course. The funny thing was that my buddy Garrett was there too with his dad. Guess what kind of car he had? 79 TA. The judge saw that and shook his head "Another one?".
Sometimes you'll luck out depending on what judge you get. The majority of them can be hard asses when it comes to it. But every now and then you'll find a judge who can show you mercy. Show them respect (I don't know how many times I can say that) and it will pay off. I can gaurantee that. And if it doesn't pay off to do so, I will sell my Civic and buy a Geo Metro . L8...
