fuel injector questions

ok, today car wouldnt start and i got a bad injector code, i killed my battery twice trying to start it, killed it once, then brought it home, charged just the battery, then killed it trying to restart it, finally gave up and did the most ghetto thing possible, front bumper of my truck and a buddy in the drivers seat of the car, it took 20 mph to turn it over, and it blew the blackest smoke i have ever seen, in 2 weeks im having the top half reseated at napa, and i know the black was being way rich in the cylenders... the question is, how much would it cost to replace the factory injector(s) on an 89 dx, or would i be better off to do a mpfi? and if i do, what cars can the mpfi come from? any 4 cyl? thanks guys

code 16 is almost always the main relay, could you hear the fuel pump engaging when you turned the key to on?

89 si or hf has Mpfi, as far as having to change anything else like the ECU, Dizzy, ect i don't know, but you'll find some info on the Mpfi swaps if you do a search on this forum that will get you to some links that will help ya out if ya do the swap.

Look at this picture to find the main relay location...

The site with the manual has been disabled and I just deleted the other bookmark web site with all pdf pages of it. Sorry. Just search main relay here and you'll find it. I'll try to describe where it's located though. It's adjacent to the change tray sort of next to where the plastic of the dash meets the door panel. If you remove the change tray and bend your head to look up over the hood release (that relay right there is the starter relay so leave it be) it'll be sideways flush with the side of the chassis.

its a bitch to get to. best bet (if your big) take all the shit off on the drivers side.(the peace with the vent that go's into the door and all them panels there. you will see a 10mm (i think) bult just next to the hood latch(thak that off to) the brackit that is held on by the bult will have the relay at the top of it. it is about 3" wide and 1.5" thick or so...it dosnt come out to easy. i didnt even put mine back there i moved it to a spot i found under the dash.
