I've got an 88 4WS Si. Which is the B20 engine right? Well I have no idea.
Anyways, I've read that headers don't do much since ludes already have nice headers, and cat backs arn't my style. So i need a mod for a guy who isn't terribly advnaced. I already plan on adding an intake. Is there anything else?

Where did you read that a lude has a nice header from the factory. Stock manifolds(other than turbo) make the motor lose power. If you want some power from an old b20 then a full header back no cat and an intake should add some nice power to any honda motor. Should make a nice aggresive tone.

First you have a 20A5, B20A Is the JDM version. Do you have an EGR valve coming from your Manifold? if you do then you have a B20A5 if not then a B20A.
Who ever told you that a stock header is good or just as good as a real header is a few fries shy or a happy meal.
There are a few mods that you can do to the B20A/B20A5 the problem is that they cost money becauses no body makes parts for them unless they custom made. Check out www.preludepower.com they have a few people making custom stuff for your lude, turbo mani's, CAi's and you can get alot of of 3G info there!

well; it was some one on the forums, I read it from a post way back in the archieves. But new headers would make sense.
Sorry to be a dope but waht is a EGR valve?
Also I realize that there anr't a whole lot of parts since there are so few 3rd gens out there. Thanks Ill look into some pipes and an intake, and maybe looks for a qualtiy ECU.

Good choice. Depending on which state you live in you might want to beat out the cat so its still there and the cops dont ask to many questions. But the older ludes have a nice aggresive tone with a header and an after market muffler and mandrel bent exhaust tubing.

Agreed. Do a full aftermarket exhaust system. Other than a CAI, cam gears, and very few other items. you will have to have some parts machined to help give you some added HP. Bored TB, intake manny, port/polished head, turbo, etc. There is hope for the 3rd gen. Its just timely and can be expensive.

Yup sofast is right on...
Headers give ALOT of power to our B20a's because our stock downpipe is WAY TOO SMALL.
They give about 10-14whp - that's ALOOTT for just one mod.

Then I guess I'll start with an Intake and some new headers. That should give me atleast an extra 15hp. And probably cost under $400.
Also, what brand of air filter should I get? And whats a good Header thats still in production that will cost >$300 if such a thing exists.

from what it looks like pacesetter is the only thing you can get for a good price ebay has them for like 175. Not the best brand but its 10 time sbetter than stock. Weaponr has some nice filters i have a dragon filter on a 91 regal long story but its a civic tube cut down and even after 1-2 hours of driving on a 75 degree day the tube is ice cold. They have the secret weapon filter and the dragon, you can get a civic tube from autozone for 30 bucks and the filter is between 40-60 depending on where you look. K&N filter=ok, AEM=good, weapon-r=good, dont get an intake off ebay unless its brand name. The header is from the header to the cat and a cat back would add like 20 or so horses with the intake it would add like 30. good luck

I have a generic K&N filter. They are all the same just keep them clean. DC doesnt make a header for us anymore. But if you search on ebay one will pop up once in a while ($350). I got tired of waiting and got a full Pacesetter exhaust system ($330 for complete system). Chikara also makes a good header ($260). You might want to check Headman also.

If you get a non-DC header then make sure the welds inside the ports arent impeding on the airflow, if they are then smooth them down before you install the header otherwise you will needlessly lose power.

An intake wont add 30HP unless used with a flux capacitor. You have to modify it to fit from a DeLorean.

No i said after the header, a cat back and an intake it could (im not going to say that it will) add up to about 30 thats not from an intake alone. The header has the header and pipe from the header to the cat, scrap the cat or get a hiflow one and a cat back. Headers can add depending on brand between 0-15 a cat back can add aout the same and an intake can add between 5-10. And they did a test of the dc sports headers on a b16a and the 4-1 set made no horsepower and the 4-2-1 made it lose 3 horsepower so thats up to you i forgot the magazine they tested like 7 or 8 different headers. Yeah i did word that a little wrong.
