I was checking the transmission fluid today after about an hour of driving and i felt it and it was only hardly warm is this normal the truck has 3 radiators on it two big and one small i just recently bought it its an 88 did it come like this stock. Also has any one tried the lucas transmission additive and if so what were the results thanks

Are you trying to find a way to get it warmer? Don't do that, the cooler it stays, the longer it lasts (fluid and the tranny itself). I don't know if it was like that stock, but I seriously doubt it. Sounds like the previous owner did lots of towing with it.

I hope he didn't but is it okay to run the transmission where its hardly warm at all to the touch i just always thought that it was supposed to get a little warm to perform better thanks

Doesn't have to be warm, the cooler the better (freezing cold might be bad, but cool is great). I think I just realized what you mean about 3 radiators, and it may have come like that stock. Are the two big radiators in front of the fan, one in front of the other? If so the front one is the A/C condenser, the other one is the radiator. Is the little one in front of the condenser? That would be the trans cooler, and may have been stock (they were available from the factory), but could be aftermarket too. I'm betting that if you follow the transmission lines, they go from the transmission to the radiator to the trans cooler. That will get the fluid as cold as possible, and is best for hot locations (like Texas). If you ever move, you may want to reroute the lines so the go to the trans cooler first, that will be better for a cooler environment.

Yeah the big one in front of the radiator is the ac condensor but the other small cooler is to the right of the other ones i'm pretty sure that it is the transmission cooler thanks
