engines

I have a 96 sierra 305, and want to drop in one of the new gm engines 5.3, 6.0, specifically the 8.1l. Can everyone give some input on this upgrade. eg. straight drop in, engine mounts, computer, hose+wiring routing, etc. I know that the 350 will fit with no problems its just a plug and play, I also know that I could take or find another 305 and probably produce more power than a big block(or come close).

I would think you are going to have major mod to put in the 8.1. Most likely new wire harness, new ECM, motor mounts if you can even find them. If it were me I would build up a 350 and drop that in and would most like still be cheeper than the 8.1.
