:banghead: I have a 89' F-150 5.0L 4x4. I was having problems with acceloration; the truck would lose power the faster I tried to go. barely made it home before the truck stalled out. Upon checking the stored codes it came up with the fuel system. Upon checking the relay I found one of the leads broken. I replaced the pigtail harness. The truck still would not start. I checked the wiring and found the pump is not reciving power. I followed the wires and found no other lose connections. Has anyone have anyother ideas. :banghead:

im just guessing the relay might be bad if the pump isn't getting power. hold your hand on it (the relay) and have someone try to start the truck. if you don't feel a click, the relay isn't switching. it could be bad or it isn't receiving the voltage that activates it. if it does click, then the wiring between the relay and the pump is bad.

the easy way to check/find the open wire is unplug both ends of the wire(pump& relay) ground the pump end of the wire to the frame(clean spot) using a paperclip& wire. clamp a testlight to the batery positive and probe the wire at the relay if it don't light you got an open. i assume you checked the fuel pump fuse inertia switch. make sure the eec relay is powering up too.

checked everything mentioned. Relay worked fine; all upper end relays and wire harneses working fine. Found solution. 20 Amp circut breaker; heavy load switch; and power right from the battery. Started pump; turned key and the truck now goes.
